Certified Veterinary Technician
We are looking for caring, gentle, detail-oriented certified or certification-eligible technicians to add to our staff of highly qualified professionals. Being an oncology technician is uniquely rewarding because of the quality of life we are able to give to our patients and the relationships we form with their owners – a positive attitude is a must!
Our practice has been featured on several TV morning shows, and has been the subject of many newspaper articles. Oncology is one of the fastest-growing specialty fields in veterinary medicine. With the advances of novel treatments and therapies there is an on-going increase in the opportunity for a chance to really make a positive difference in the life of a patient dealing with cancer.
Our technical staff is involved at all levels of patient care, from gentle restraining for procedures to safely administering life-saving chemotherapeutics. We interact directly with our clients, and provide caring support through tough decisions.
Our technicians perform venipuncture from jugular and peripheral veins for blood-work, draw up and administer medications and chemotherapy via butterfly and IV catheters, take quality digital x-rays, monitor patients under anesthesia, prepare and submit samples to various labs for advanced testing, and act as liaisons between oncologists and clients. Advanced skills involve obtaining aspirates of lymph nodes and masses, and performing bone marrow aspirations.
Our technicians exemplify high-quality compassionate customer care, as we frequently deal with emotional clients who look to us for guidance and support. Our technicians answer client questions and schedule appointments and procedures, rotating through front-desk phone duties.
